Bangladesh observing mourning day to remember assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

<span style="color: black;">Bangladesh is observing the 46th martyrdom day of the founding President of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with 18 of his family members in Dhaka by some military men on the night of 15 August 1975. Only two members of his family, his eldest daughter and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and her sister survived as they were out of the country on that day.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;"><br />''Elaborate arrangements have been made to observe the day with due respect and solemnity.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Prime Minister Sheik Hasina paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib by laying a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in the capital. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was assassinated in this house in 1975.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;"><br />''The National Flag of Bangladesh is flying half mast at all government buildings to mark the tragic day in 1975.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Special programmes are being mounted by television channels and various organisations to mark the occasion. Government organisations, newspapers, educational institutions and others are organising programmes to observe the martyrdom day. Most of the programmes are taking place virtually due to the Corona pandemic in the country.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;"><br />''In her message on the eve of the martyrdom day Prime Minister Hasina called upon people to turn the grief of the occasion into strength to build a non communal, hunger-poverty free prosperous Bangladesh of Bangabandhu's dream.</span>
