Bangladesh today observed National mourning Day to mark the 36th death anniversary of the country’s Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman. It was on this fateful day in August 1975 that Sheikh Mujibur Rehman and all his family members except current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and his younger daughter Sheikh Rehana were assassinated.Bangladesh President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the nation in paying rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhaka in the morning to commemorate his death anniversary.Later Prime minister Sheikh Hasina also placed a wreath on the grave of Bangabandhu at Tungipara in Gopalganj. Thousands of people also paid homage to the Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation at the Bangabandhu Memorial museum. Special Prayers and programmes were also held in different parts of the country in memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman.
