Bangladesh and Myanmar have signed a deal on the repatriation of Rohingyas with no specific deadline but with high hopes that the refugees will start returning to their homeland in Rakhine State within the next 2 months. <br/><br/>The two neighbouring countries struck the deal today in Naypyidaw following a marathon meeting between the Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. <br/><br/>The deal was signed by Mahmood Ali and Myanmar Minister for State Counsellor's Office Kyauw Tint Swe. Sources said Bangladesh had sought to keep a provision for a specific time-frame for completing the repatriation process, but Myanmar wants to keep it an open-ended process. <br/><br/>The two countries have however agreed on the formation of a joint working group at Foreign Secretary level to start the repatriation process. <br/><br/>There was also no agreement on the involvement of the international community especially the UN agencies in the verification process. '<br/><br/>Over 622000 Rohingyas crossed the border and taken shelter in Cox's Bazar district amid violence and persecution by Myanmar's military in the Rakhine State since 25th August.
