Bangladesh mourns Nimtali accidents

Bangladesh is observing a day of National mourning today for the victims of Thursday night’s Nimtali fire accident and the death of people in the Begunbari building collapse tragedy. Hundred and seventeen people lost their lives in the devastating fire at Nimtali while twenty five people had died in the crash of a five storey building in Begunbari area of Dhaka earlier this week. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited those injured in the fire accident being treated in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday. She has urged the people to observe the national mourning and pray for eternal peace of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured in the tragedies. The national flag has been hoisted at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous and non-government organisations buildings to observe the National Mourning. Special prayers were offered in all mosques, temples and other places of worships in the country including the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and Dhakeswari National Temple on Friday for the victims of the Nimtali fire victims. The Nimtali fire accident is reported to be the biggest fire accident in the history of Dhaka city.
