The largest organisation of the minority communities of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad has urged the government to implement the promises made to the minorities by October this year, said the press release issued by the Oikya Parishad.<br />''<br />''Addressing the meeting of the divisional heads of the Oikya Parishad in Chattogram on Saturday, Secretary General Advocate Rana Dasgupta said that if the promises made in the manifesto of the political party to protect minority interests are not fulfilled before the next general elections, minority groups will be forced to rethink their position.<br />''<br />''The meeting was presided over by Engineer Parimal Kanti Chowdhury. Presidents and General Secretaries of 13 districts and metropolitan towns of the Chattogram division addressed the meeting.<br />''<br />''Advocate Rana Dasgupta apprised the gathering about the meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quadir to implement the promises made in the election manifesto of the ruling Awami League. He said that the Oikya Parishad has its last hope in the Prime Minister to implement the promises. He also urged all political parties not to ignore the interests of the minority communities of Bangladesh.<br />''<br />''The speakers also expressed anger over the killing of schoolgirl Mukti Rani Barman in Netrakona and demanded stern action against the perpetrators of the crime. The Oikya Parishad also organised a human chain in Chattogram demanding exemplary punishment to the killers of Mukti Rani Barman.<br />''<br />''Earlier, in February, the Oikya Parishad had organised a nationwide torchlight procession to remind the government that the ruling Awami League in its election manifesto of 2018 had promised to set up a National Minority Commission, enact the minority protection act, anti-discrimination act, transfer of vested property act and proper implementation of the Hill Tract Treaty and setting up of a&nbsp; separate land commission for the tribals living in the plains among others.<br />
