Bangladesh maritime ports asked to hoist Great Danger Signal no. 8

Mongla Port has been advised to keep hoisted the local warning signal number 4. </span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;"><br />''</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Great Danger Signal number 8 signifies severe weather from a storm of great intensity with wind speed of 89 kmph or more. </span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;"><br />''</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">The BMD bulletin said that Coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Pirojpur, Borgun and their offshore islands and chars will come under great danger signal number 8. </span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;"><br />''</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Under the peripheral effect of the cyclone   and the steep pressure gradient, low lying areas of the coastal districts of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar and their off shore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by the wind driven surge height of 8-12 feet above normal astronomical tide. </span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;"><br />''</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">The latest cyclone bulletin issued by BMD said that at 6 p.m. local time Mocha was about 930 kilometres from Chattogram,860 kilometres from Cox's Bazar, 890 kilometres from Mongla port and 855 kilometres from Payra port. It may cross Cox's Bazar- North Myanmar coast between 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening of Sunday, May 14. The adjoining coastal regions will experience the peripheral effect of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm by the evening of Saturday, May 13.</span></p>
