Bangladesh knock England out of World Cup, enter quarter-finals

In the Cricket World Cup 2015, a fighting Bangladesh knocked out England by 15 runs at Adelaide to make its maiden entry into the quarter finals today. In this high pressure game Bangladesh held their nerves and succesfully defended a modest total of 275. Bangladesh innings was constructed around their first ever World Cup century by Mahmudullah and a vital 89 from Mushfiqur Rahim.While chasing 276, England kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They were tottering at 163 for 6 at one time. However, a 75 run stand between Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes revived their chances. Buttler departed after making a desperate 65 of 52 balls putting them in the vicinity of target. They just needed 16 off 2 overs with two wickets in hand. Rubel Hossain who had removed English captain Eoin Morgan at duck earlier was handed 49th over. He delivered the deadly double blow to English dreams removing Stuart Broad and James Anderson as they succumbed at 260. Bangladesh's victory also secured Sri Lanka's place in the last eight, alongside New Zealand and Australia. Tomorrow in a Pool B encounter India will take on Ireland at Hamilton. All India Radio will broadcast ball by ball live commentary alternatively in English and Hindi from 6:00 am onwards.
