A court in Bangladesh today issued arrest warrants against United Liberation Front of Assam leader Paresh Barua and Mr. Nurul Amin, former Additional Secretary of Bangladesh’s Industry ministry in the sensational ten truck Chittagong arms haul case of 2004. The warrants were issued against the two absconding accused after the court in Chittagong took into cognizance the supplementary charge sheet filed against 11 new accused in the case.The new suspects in the supplementary charge sheet filed by the criminal investigation department includes former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Matiur Rahman Nizami and two former Director Generals of National Security Intelligence. With the filing of the supplementary charge sheet,the number of accused in the case has gone up to 52 of which ULFA leader Paresh Barua and Mr.Nurul Amin are absconding. The court which issued arrest warrants has asked the law enforcers to produce them before the court and to submit a report on the developments related to the order on the 1st of August.
