Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the country is hosting the fleeing Rohingya refugees on humanitarian grounds, but the Myanmar government must put an end to the ongoing persecution and let them return to their homeland. <br/><br/>Visiting the newly established refugee camp in Ukhia in Cox's Bazaar yesterday, the premier witnessed firsthand the conditions of the Rohingya refugees and distributed some relief material. Hasina said if Bangladesh can feed 160 million people, it can also feed 700,000 refugees, and urged the local government to ensure that the sick and wounded are well taken care of in the hospitals. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters, the premier said Bangladesh wants peace with neighbouring countries, but it cannot tolerate such atrocities and injustice committed against innocent people. Denouncing the terror attacks on Myanmar border police by insurgents, Hasina made it clear that her government will never allow any insurgent group to use Bangladesh territory against any neighbours. Hasina urged the international community to pressurize Myanmar to act accordingly so that the Rohingyas can be repatriated back to their homeland of Rakhine State in Myanmar.
