Bangladesh Home Minister warns of stern action against people carrying out attacks on property in country

<span style="color: #222222;">Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal of Bangladesh on Sunday warned of stern action against people carrying out attacks on government establishments and private property in the country. He said that the government has dealt with the unruly elements with patience but now the government will deal with them with iron hands.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Reacting to the violent incidents reported from several parts of Bangladesh since Friday, the Minister accused Hefazat-e-Islam for instigating madrasa students to indulge in violent attacks. Violence was reported from several places in Bangladesh during the strike called by the hardline Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam on Sunday. Places like Brahmanberia, Sylhet, Narayanganj, Rajshahi and some other towns of Bangladesh reported violent clashes between protestors and police.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The hardline Islamist organisation had called the strike to protest the police action against its activists in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria districts on Saturday. The Hefazat-e-Islam controlled madrasa students and activists reportedly vandalised railway property, police station and torched vehicles in the Brahmanbaria town on Sunday. At least two people were killed in clashes between the police and the mob indulging in arson and attacks. In Narayanganj also, one person was killed during a clash as the Hefazat workers blocked the Dhaka-Chattagram highway.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In Dhaka the normal life was not affected by the call of the strike by the Hefazat but some skirmishers between Hefazat supporters and opponents of the strike were reported from a few areas in Dhaka as protestors tried to block some roads in the city causing traffic snarls. Earlier, on Saturday, five people were killed in Brahmanbaria in clashes between the police and Hefazat supporters protesting against the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Four protesters had died in Chattogram also in clashes between the police and the followers of the Hefazat-e-Islam group which controls thousands of madrasas in the country.</span><br />
