They recalled the humanitarian act of India in hosting close to 10 million refugees who had to flee Bangladesh in 1971 due to the brutal repression of the Pakistan army in then East Pakistan. They also recalled the support provided by India to Bangladesh through military and logistical support to the liberation war of the country.<br />''<br />''The Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Haque recalled the role of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1971 liberation war in building public opinion across the world by undertaking tours to several countries. He also highlighted the role of the Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who campaigned for recognition to the Bangladesh government in exile working from Kolkata at that time.<br />''<br />''ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak underlined the continuing cooperation between the two countries that started in 1971. Acknowledging the great support provided by India during the liberation war, he called India a 'true friend' in building a digital Bangladesh. He said India is helping Bangladesh in setting up Hi-tech parks, India-Bangladesh Edu-Entertainment Centre in every district and other cutting edge projects in a substantial manner.<br />''<br />''High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami emphasised that the Bangladesh Liberation War was a people's war that showed the central role of culture and language.
