A Bangladeshi delegation is visiting Russia this week for talks on the construction of the first nuclear power plant (NPP) in Bangladesh. Moscow had signed, in May, a nuclear cooperation agreement with Bangladesh pledging to help the energy hungry nation build its first nuclear power station at Roop Pur, 200 km north-west of the capital Dhaka.Sergei Kiriyenko,The chief of Russia's nuclear agency Rosatom,Sergei Kiriyenko, was quoted as saying that a large delegation from Bangladesh will arrive this week. The delegation will be taken to Russian nuclear power stations.Bangladesh is seeking Russia's assistance in setting up two nuclear reactors with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts each. Under the agreement signed in May, Rosatom will help Bangladesh in making the blueprint, construction and operation of nuclear reactors.
