Bangladesh defeat Pak in FIFA WC qualifying tie

Bangladesh today defeated Pakistan by three goals to nil in the first leg of the first round qualifying tie of the Asian Zone for the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup. In the match played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka today, Pakistan were outclassed by the hosts who scored two goals in the first half to take control of the game. This was followed by a third goal in the second half which sealed the fate of Pakistan.Bangladesh will now play the second leg of the tie against Pakistan in Lahore on July 3rd. The match in Dhaka was part of the eight qualifying matches scheduled for today in different countries involving the lowest ranked sixteen countries in the first leg of the first round ties of the Asian Zone qualifying matches of 2014 Brazil FIFA World cup. The second leg of the first round qualifying ties will be played on July 3rd from which the eight winners will advance to join 22 higher-ranked sides for the next stage of the qualifying rounds.
