The deep depression over East-Central bay and adjoining areas moved in a north-northwest direction and intensified into a cyclonic storm 'Sitrang', said the latest special bulletin of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued at 6 p.m. on Sunday. <br />''<br />''The cyclone was centred about 770 kms southwest of Chattogram port, 710 kms southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 700 kms South-southwest of Mongla port and 675 kms south-southwest of Payra port. It is likely to intensify further and move in a northerly direction, said the bulletin.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to host local warning signal number 4.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Under the peripheral effect of the cyclone, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh are likely to experience gutsy or squally wind speed of 40/50 kms per hour in addition to heavy to very heavy rainfall. <br />''<br />''The Low lying areas of coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Barguna, Barisal, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and others are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge of the height of 5-7 feet above normal astronomical tide.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, the district administration of three coastal districts in Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira has kept more than 1000 cyclone centres ready to deal with the fall out of Sitrang.
