Bangladesh: Death toll in Karatoya river boat mishap reach 50

<span style="color: #222222;">The death toll in the Karatoya river boat mishap in Panchagarh rose to 50 with 26 more bodies being recovered yesterday, reports the official news agency BSS. Among the deceased, 24 were women, 15 men, and 11 children. 29 people still missing. The boat was carrying devotees to take part in the Mahalaya festival at the Badheswari temple in Panchagarh when it lost balance mid-stream and capsized.<br />''<br />''The incident took place at Auliya Ghat in Boda Upazila of Marea Union on Sunday afternoon. Some of the people onboard the trawler were able to swim to safety. The district administration has given Taka 20,000 each to the family of the deceased and Taka 10,000 each to the injured person. District administration has formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident and submit its report within three working days.<br />''<br />''Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan and the local Members of Parliament visited the site of the accident.
