Bangladesh: Covid positivity rate climbs up to 6.27 percent

After remaining low for several months, the sample positivity rate of Covid 19 infection has jumped to 6.27 percent in Bangladesh on Friday. This is the highest level of sample positivity rate in Bangladesh in over 100 days since February 23 when the positivity rate was recorded to be 6.77 percent.<br />''<br />''According to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on Friday, 433 new cases of covid 19 infection were detected in the country with zero deaths. The death toll due to Covid 19 in Bangladesh stands at 29,131.<br />''<br />''The rising trend of the sample positivity rate has been observed since the last several days. Starting with close to 1 percent positivity rate on June 11, it has slowly climbed to approximately 2 percent on June 2, 4 percent on June 14 to over 6 percent on June 16 finally reaching 6.27 percent on June 17, as per the latest data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). <br />''<br />''On the other hand, Bangladesh has vaccinated over 75 percent of its population till now against the WHO mandated 70 percent target. More than 12.89 crore people have received the first dose, 11.85 crore people the second dose and 2.76 crore people booster dose of the Covid 19 vaccine in the country till June 16.
