Bangladesh government today said that it has completed a seismic survey in the Bay of Bengal to support its claim for an extended continental shelf. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters in Dhaka today, Bangladesh Foreign secretary Mijarul Quayes said the survey was completed in March this year and the technical team is analysing the data to finalise its report. He said the Bangladesh government was on track to submit its claim to the Commission on the limits of the Continental shelf before the deadline of July 2011. <br/><br/>Bangladesh has submitted its case before the UN tribunal for arbitration on maritime issues under the UN Convention for Law of the seas to resolve issues related to its claims over certain oil and gas blocks in the Bay of Bengal with India and Myanmar.<br/><br/>Though the Bangladesh government has submitted its case for arbitration, the Awami league government led by Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has also said that it will also continue its efforts to resolve the issue through bilateral dialogue.
