Bangladesh achieved its first series win against England in any format after it defeated the visiting England team by 4 wickets in the second T20 international match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.
The victory gave Bangladesh an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match T-20 series. The maiden victory of Bangladesh was powered once again with a powerful performance by Najmul Hossain Shanto who scored an unbeaten 46 off 47 balls in a relatively low-scoring match.
Chasing a modest 118 for victory, Bangladesh started with a shaky performance losing their first two wickets of Liton Das and Rony Talukdar early in the game before Shanto and Towhid Hridoy (17 off 18 balls) put up a 29-run stand for the third wicket.
For the fourth wicket too, Shanto and Mehidy added 41 runs to inch closer to the victory mark of 118. However, tense moments followed with three quick wickets of Mehidy, Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain falling within a span of 4 runs to send Bangladesh tottering at 105-6.
Thankfully, for Bangladesh, Shanto and Taksin Ahmed took it to the victory mark scoring 15 runs with the help of three boundaries in the penultimate over. Jofra Archer took 3-13 for England.
Earlier, Bangladesh put England to bat after winning the toss. Miraz gave a superb spell in the middle overs claiming his career-best 4 wickets for 12 runs. He earned the player of the match award. Shanto was adjudged as the most valuable player for his brilliant innings of 46 runs.
