The Chittagong Medical College has been indefinitely closed following violent clashes between the Bangladesh Chattra League and the Islami Chhatra Shibir .Both the BCL and Shibir activists ransacked and set fire to over 20 rooms of Main Hostel of the college and vandalized at least 10 shops in Chawkbazar on Saturday. All the students have been asked to vacate the campus and its dormitories were closed following the violence which left several students injured. The violence was triggered off with both the outfits trying to assert their supremacy in the college campus in a bid to woo the fresher students . Chittagong Medical College Principal Dr Gofranul Haque said that a five member committee has been constituted to probe the incident and will submit its report in the next fifteen days.
