Bangladesh celebrates Eid-ul-Azha with religious fervour

The festival of Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in Bangladesh with religious fervour and solemnity. People started gathering in the mosques early in the morning to celebrate the festival of sacrifice and sharing. In the capital city Dhaka, the national Baitul Mukarram mosque held five congregations for the devotees starting from 7 a.m. Special prayers were also held seeking continued peace and development of the nation as well as global peace, reports the official news agency BSS. <br />'' <br />'' The main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha in Dhaka was held at 8 am at the National Eidgah ground adjacent to the High Court. Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui, Dhaka South Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Cabinet Ministers and several other dignitaries took part in the prayer at the venue. <br />'' <br />'' President M Abdul Hamid in his message on the occasion urged the wealthy and affluent people to come forward so that none is  deprived of the joy of Eid. He called upon the private sector to take pragmatic steps to alleviate the sufferings of the flood affected, poverty stricken and low income people of the country.<br />'' <br />'' Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, like earlier years, greeted the Liberation War fighters of Bangladesh by sending flowers, fruits and sweets to the war-wounded freedom fighters and the family of the martyred freedom fighters.<br />'' <br />'' North and South city corporations of Dhaka have made special arrangements to clear the city of the waste of sacrificial animals quickly after 2 p.m. on Sunday.
