Bangladesh : Assam Delegation calls on Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen

<span style="color: black;">A delegation led by the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary called on the Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen in Dhaka on Monday. The 55 member delegation including 32 MLAs from Assam undertook an official visit of Bangladesh between Nov. 19-22 on the invitation of Foreign Minister Dr. Momen.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">During the meeting, Dr. Momen said that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relationship with the most important and closest neighbour – India. He stated that the people of the North-East India occupy a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshis for their unstinting support to the Bangalis during the War of Liberation in 1971. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Dr. Momen mentioned that Assam can reap the benefit from the outstanding growth of Bangladesh's economy by enhancing trade and commerce, tourism and people to people contact. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">The Speaker of Assam assembly Biswajit Daimary appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her zero tolerance policy towards terrorism, radicalism and violent extremism which had significantly contributed to peace and prosperity in the entire region.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">The Assamese delegation laid emphasis on greater collaboration within sectors like connectivity, trade and people to people contact in order to further consolidate economic ties between Bangladesh and North-East India. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Earlier, 4-members of the delegation had called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina . The delegation also called on speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. They also paid tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his memorial in Dhaka and at his mausoleum in Tungipara, Gopalganj.</span><br />''  <br />
