Renowned Bangladeshi film maker Tanvir Mokammel has said that it was a befitting tribute to have Bangladesh as the country of focus in Goa, International Film Festival of India IFFI on its 50th anniversary of liberation.<br />” <br />”Four films from Bangladesh including Jibandhuli directed by Tanvir Mokammel are being shown at the IFFI this year under the country of focus section.<br />” <br />”The Country of Focus is a special segment that recognizes the cinematic excellence and contributions of the country. As a part of the opening ceremony of the section, Rupsa Nodir Banke was screened yesterday.<br />” <br />”Speaking about his film Rupsa Nodir Banke, Director Tanvir Mokammel said that the protagonist of the film was like a Greek tragic hero who ran against time. Talking about the historical background, Tanvir Mokammel said East Bengal was never a poor country but British and later Pakistan made it poor. He recounted that Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak were two of the great inspirations for his film-making.<br />” <br />”AIR Correspondent reports that the screenings of IFFI receive overwhelming response.
