Bangladesh: 10 held for vandalism, attack on homes and temples in Khulna

<span id="m_-1516947603121667911gmail-docs-internal-guid-9ca866cc-7fff-932c-d90d-8b4a12f6e65d" style="color: #222222;"><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Police arrested 10 people on Sunday for vandalising temples and attacking homes of the minority Hindu community in Khulna district of Bangladesh. <br />''<br />''Police raided houses of the accused after a case  was filed by a local organization in the Rupsha upazila of Khulna district. <br />''<br />''The incident took place on Saturday when a large group of miscreants attacked Hindu homes and temples in the Shiali villages under Rupsha upazila of Khulna district. According to local media reports six temples were vandalised and several statues broken in the attack. The vandals had also beaten up the people in the village.<br />''<br />''According to one version, the incident started with a minor altercation between two groups of people on Friday night on the issue of singing Kirtan at the time of Namaz.<br />'' </span><br />''</span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Police officials and local administration reached the village after the incident and the situation was brought under control after deploying additional police forces in the area. </span><br />
