Bangla Prez stresses on increasing Indo-Bangladesh military co-operation

Bangladesh President Zillur Rahman on Tuesday emphasized the need for strengthening military cooperation between Bangladesh and Indian Armed Forces through exchange of visits and training programmes. Interacting with a delegation of the National Defence College of India which called on him today at Bangabhavan in Dhaka, the Bangladesh President recalled with gratitude the contribution of Indian army during the Bangladesh War of Liberation in 1971.

He also expressed satisfaction about the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. The Indian delegation also apprised the President about the joint special military exercise to be held between Bangladesh and Indian armies which is scheduled to begin next week. The 16-member delegation of the National Defence College was led by Major General Sanjaya Saran along with India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr. Rajeet Mitter during the meeting with the Bangladesh President.
