Bangalore blasts ’08: Karnataka police gone to Kerala to arrest Madani

Karnataka police have gone to Kerala to arrest People's Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani, accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case. Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said that a team of Banglaore Police is in Kollam to arrest the PDP leader. Madani was listed as an accused in an additional charge sheet filed by SIT probing the Bangalore blasts, based on statements given to police by key accused T Nazeer. The Karnataka High Court had last week dismissed Madani's anticipatory bail plea. A similar plea by Madani was rejected by a fast track court in Bangalore last month. The Bangalore blasts on July 25, 2008 had claimed the life of a woman and left 20 injured. Madani was the main accused in the Coimbatore serial blasts case in 1998 in which 58 people were killed hours before BJP leader L K Advani was to address an election meeting there. He was, however, acquitted by a trial court in the case.
