In Kashmir valley, security forces resumed their operation at Barzala village in Bandipora district this morning to nutralise a militant holed up in a local Mosque. One militant has already been killed in the encounter which has entered the 3rd day today. AIR correspondent Mustaq Tantre reports from Srinagar that the joint operation in the village was launched on a tip of on Sunday evening and in the ensuing gun battle one militant was killed. However, another militant managed to escape and enter in the local Mosque in injured condition. The troops of 3rd Madras regiment, a special operation group of police are taking all precautions to ensure that there is no damage to the Mosque. The hold up militant has not fired since last evening and now as the light improves, the operation to nutralise him will resume.
