Bandh supporters block road, rail, metro services? in Delhi

The Bharat Bandh call by BJP led NDA and LEFT Parties against the fuel price hike has evoked partial response in the national capital. While the public transport is thin, the protestors attempted to block traffic at Laxmi Nagar, ITO, Preet Vihar, Akashardham, Badarpur and Madhuban Chowk areas. Agitated protestors also tried to stop the Metro train services at many places. Security has been deployed to ensure smooth run of the Metro trains.<br/><br/>Several BJP and Left workers courted arrest in support of the Bandh. Addressing a protest rally at Chandni Chowk in New Delhi top BJP and JDU leaders charged the centre of failing to curb the price rise.<br/><br/>Those who addressed the rally Party President Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh and JDU President Sharad Yadav. Mr Gadkari alleged, while food grains are rotting in Punjab and Haryana, people have to pay heavily to purchase them. Mr.Sharad Yadav blamed the government of ignoring the interest of poor and down trodden. <br/><br/>At ITO Chowk addressing a protest rally the left party leaders alleged that UPA Government is following pro rich policies and ignoring the plight of the common man. Brinda karat of the CPIM courted arrest .A senior Delhi Police officer said that adequate security measures are in place to ensure law and order during the protest. <br/><br/>Our correspondent after visiting several areas of the National capital reports while the business establishments are closed in Chandni chowk ,Karaol Bagh and outer Delhi , they are partially open on other areas.
