In Nepal, normal life throughout the country remains paralysed following an indefinite nationwide bandh called by the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist) from this morning. The bandh has been called demanding a package deal to resolve the current political deadlock that includes formation of a Maoist-led national unity government, completion of the peace process and drafting of the new constitution within the May 28 deadline, among others.Shops, business establishments, factories, educational institutions remained closed and vehicles were off the roads. Thousands of bandh supporters were seen picketing on the roads in different parts of Kathmandu from early this morning to enforce the general strike. However, essential services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
