Bandh evokes partial impact in Telangana region: hectic political parleys underway

In Andhra Pradesh, bandh called by the student Joint Action Committee protesting against terms of reference for the SriKrishna Committee evoked partial response on Saturday in Telangana region. Barring minor incidents, bandh supported by all-Party Telangana JAC and the pro-Telangana organisations passed off peacefully in all the 10 districts of the region amidst tight security.Commuters got respite as the state Transport corporation-APSRTC has operated both the city and district bus services as usual. In some areas, police escorted the buses to avoid any untoward incident. Business establishments, offices, restaurants and vehicular traffic were not been affected due to bandh in Hyderabad and several other districts in the region. However, Schools, colleges and Universities remained closed and some universities postponed the examinations scheduled on Saturday. On the other hand, hectic political parleys were underway among the leaders of various parties across party lines. While the all party Telangana Joint Action Committee convened a meeting on Saturday evening, the Congress leaders including MPs, Ministers and MLAs belonging to Telangana region held a meeting to discuss their future course of action. The opposition TDP leaders also held a meeting to deliberate on the fresh situation. On the other hand, the TRS polite bureau meeting has endorsed a decision that was taken by its party president to tender resignations by the elected members in a prescribed format. However, the TRS leaders have decided to wait till the JAC deliberate on the issue just to demonstrate unity among the pro-Telangana leaders on the issue.
