Bandh evokes partial impact in Telangana region: hectic political parleys underway

In Andhra Pradesh, bandh called by the student Joint Action Committee protesting against terms of reference for the SriKrishna Committee evoked partial response on Saturday in Telangana region. Barring minor incidents, bandh supported by all-Party Telangana JAC and the pro-Telangana organisations passed off peacefully in all the 10 districts of the region amidst tight security.<br/><br/>Commuters got respite as the state Transport corporation-APSRTC has operated both the city and district bus services as usual.<br/><br/>In some areas, police escorted the buses to avoid any untoward incident. Business establishments, offices, restaurants and vehicular traffic were not been affected due to bandh in Hyderabad and several other districts in the region. However, Schools, colleges and Universities remained closed and some universities postponed the examinations scheduled on Saturday.<br/><br/>On the other hand, hectic political discussions are underway on the terms and reference set for Sri Krishna Committee appointed to look into the issue of separate Telangana State. The all party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) is discussing the issue in a meeting of leaders of TDP, TRS, and BJP. AIR correspondent reports that the Congress leaders did not reach the venue of the meeting when the last report came in. While, Congress leaders including MPs, MLAs and Ministers from Telangana region have held a separate meeting. They are contemplating to convey their feelings over the terms of reference of the Committee to the Party High Command.
