Bandh evokes mixed response in West Bengal

In West Bengal, opposition BJP’s sponsored 12 hours Bangla Bandh ended on Monday evening barring few stray incidents of violence. The Bandh evoked mixed response through out the state. AIR Kolkata correspondent, Arijit Chakraborty reports that three buses were set on fire at Howrah, Baguihati areas besides a number of vehicles were ransacked by the Bandh supporters. <br/><br/>Train services of the Eastern and South Eastern Railways were also disrupted on Monday morning due to picketing of Bandh supporters on rail tracks. Blockade on roads were also reported from different parts of the State. Police arrested around 700 Bandh supporters from various areas. However, Metro services and flight operations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airports were normal. <br/><br/>There was no major impact of Bandh in tea gardens in North Bengal and three sub-divisions in Darjeeling hills. <br/>
