In Andhra Pradesh, bandh is being observed today peacefully so far amidst tight security in Telangana region demanding for a clear time-frame to carve out Telangana State. Almost all political parties and organisations including of Employees and students have extended support to the bandh called by the Telangana Joint Action Committee. Thousands of activists from almost all parties came on to the roads in various districts to press for statehood for Telangana. Pro-Telangana groups are holding protests, rallies and processions across the region. Normal life across the Telangana region has almost come to a stand still due to bandh. Commuters are facing severe hardships as the State Road Transport Corporation; APSRTC has suspended over 9 thousand bus services across the region. Railways have cancelled more than 150 trains in three major routes. Long distance transport services have been suspended since last night. The transportation of essential commodities like milk and vegetables has also been affected. Shops, petrol pumps and business entities and cinema theatres are remained closed. Attendance is poor in the Government and private offices in Hyderabad. Besides Prohibitive orders and section 144 being clamped in Hyderabad and in 9 other districts of the region, huge number of police forces is maintaining strict vigil to avoid any untoward incident at all important places through out the region. Meanwhile, the entire state administration is being involved in reducing the impact of bandh and state Cabinet meeting has been postponed in view of the bandh. On the other hand, tension till prevailed on the Osmania University Campus, the nerve centre of the Telangana agitation with police deploying huge number of security forces.
