Bandh affects normal life in Nepal

In Nepal, normal life in many parts of the country was affected due to bandh called by the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities , an umbrella body of various indigenous people, today. The ethnic groups had called for a one-day strike to pressure the Constituent Assembly and the political parties to draft the new constitution at the earliest, and safeguard their rights and wider people from the marginalised communities in the new constitution. Academic institutions, industries and market places remained shut .However, emergency vehicles such as ambulance, press, Human Rights organisations, and a few taxis were seen plying. Meanwhile, police arrested around four dozen supporters of the organizers of the bandh as they were enforcing bandh in Kathmandu .
