In Andhra Pradesh, the normal life in Telangana region was badly hit on Tuesday due to the 48-hour Bandh called by Telangana Joint Action Committee. Barring minor incidents, the bandh is peaceful. Besides, Telangana Rastra Samithi, CPI, BJP and TDP leaders from the region have extended support to the bandh. AIR correspondent reports, normal life in Telangana Region was badly affected due to the two-day bandh called by Telangana JAC. People faced severe inconvenience as the transport services had been disrupted in 10 districts across the region as thousands of buses belonging to State Public Transport Corporation were confined to depots. Educational institutions, shops and business entities remained closed across the region. Most of the Petrol pumps, cinema theatres and hotels also downed the shutters. Poor attendance was registered in the Government and Private Offices. In Hyderabad, tension prevailed near the Osmania University campus when police fired tear gas shells to control students indulged in stone pelting. The usually busy centres and major traffic junctions wore a disserted look as public transport vehicles remained off the roads. Local trains in some sections were suspended. However, the essential services like water and milk supply have been spared from the bandh. Meanwhile, the bandh also found an echo in the state Assembly on Tuesday. A large number of police forces in riot gear were seen at all important places in the state capital and also at other places while bandh supporters held rallies and protest demonstrations.
