The Left parties today condemned the ban on the sale of meat imposed by some states. The CPI(M) politbureau termed the ban a violation of fundamental rights. The Party denounced it saying it is violation of constitutional fundamental rights of personal life, freedom and liberty by enforcing strictures on lifestyle and dietary habits of the people.<br/><br/>The Maharashtra and Rajasthan governments have banned sale and consumption of meat in view of a Jain festival, Paryushan. The Rajasthan Government has put restriction on sale of meat and fish on September 17, 18 and 27. In Maharashtra, the ban, imposed since yesterday, will continue for three more days.<br/><br/>The CPI also took strong objection to meat ban. Party general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy said the state should not dictate what a person should eat and when to consume. Mr Reddy said such type of acts based with narrow partisan attitude will create social disharmony.
