Ban Ki-moon mees Prithviraj Chavan in Mumbai

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon today met Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan in Mumbai.

Chavan said, the state had already achieved the health related UN Millennium Development Goals including, reduction in the infant mortality and maternity death rate. He said increasing difference between the male female populations is an upsetting fact and the state is undertaking necessary steps to overcome the social problem.

Chavan discussed the threat of Terrorism faced by Mumbai. He urged the UN Secretary General to accept the proposal on the International convention of counter terrorism made by the Government of India in the year 1996.

Ban Ki-Moon appreciated the health related development made in the state. He promised to provide necessary assist to overcome the evil of terrorism.

Earlier today the UN Secretary General along with his wife paid a visit to the 26/11 hit Madam Cama Hospital and Sir J. J. hospital in South Mumbai. Ban Ki-moon interacted with the an eminent eye specialist and dean of Sir J.J. Hospital Dr. Tatyarao Lahane .
