India has asked Pakistan to reverse its decision of granting bail to the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad. Making a statement in the Lok Sabha today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the House, that the bail to Lakhvi has shocked the entire world. Mr Modi said that India has conveyed its concern to Pakistan in this regard.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that the government is keeping a close watch on the reactions of the Pakistani Authorities in this regard. Mrs Swaraj said that the release of Lakhvi on bail is a mockery on Pakistan’s commitment to fight against terrorism. She said, 99 per cent evidence against Lakhvi are in Pakistan but it failed to bring Lakhvi to justice in the last six years.
Earlier, the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that the Lok Sabha will pass a resolution condemning the grant of bail to Lakhvi. The matter was raised in the House during zero hour.
Members cutting across the party lines strongly condemned the release of Lakhvi demanding to a resolution to be passed by the House with a strong message. Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress said that the matter is very serious.
Meanwhile,the Lok Sabha today unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the grant of bail to 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. The Resolution called upon the government to take all steps including coordination with other countries to pressurize Islamabad to punish the guilty. It also urged Pakistan government to appeal against the bail.
