Bahrain opposition set to talk to Govt about political reforms

In Bahrain, opposition is set to talk to government about political reforms in the country. A leading opposition member of Shiite group Al Wefaq, Abdul Jalil Khalil said that opposition will talk to the crown prince without pre-conditions. He however said that no date has been set for the beginning of the talks. Reports however say that opposition has sent a letter to the crown prince saying they want a new government and constitution. The opposition has previously called for formation of a constitutional monarchy that would have an elected government. Some of the protesters, camped out in the capital's Pearl Square are demanding that the monarchy step aside altogether. Meanwhile, the ruling military government in Egypt has appointed former transport minister, Essam Sharaf as new Prime minister of the country replacing Ahmed Shafiq. According to Egypt’s official media al Ahram, Shafiq's resignation comes after youth movements called for the resignation of Ahmed Shafiq's government and the realization of a host of other revolutionary demands. Essam Sharaf who has been charged by the supreme council with forming the new cabinet was one of a handful of ex-ministers who declared their support for the revolution in its early days.
