Bahrain opposition reiterates demands for major reforms

In Bahrain, thousands of protesters took to the streets of Manama in a third week of anti-regime demonstrations, as Bahrain's Shiite-led opposition reiterated its demands for major reforms. Large numbers of people are camping at Pearl Square amid reports as opposition is demanding major political reforms. Formal talks have not yet started, as the opposition groups want to see a commitment to an elected government first. In Yemen, large numbers of protesters gathered into the centre of capital Sanaa for a massive anti-regime rally called by the opposition. Students and pro-democracy demonstrators have been camping at a square near Sanaa University asking President Saleh to step down who is in power for more than 32 years. Meanwhile in a press conference in Sanaa, President Saleh has accused the United States and Israel of trying to destabilize his country and the Arab world. In Oman, protests were organised in Oman and Sohar. Government has announced 150 Omani riyals (nearly 15000 Rupees ) monthly unemployment allowance and made changes in cabinet. In Iran, reports say that Iranian security forces in Tehran fired tear gas at anti-government protesters demanding the release of two opposition leaders they say have been jailed. However Iran’s Fars news agency reports that a judiciary source has denied the arrest of Mousavi and Karroubi adding that the pair were at home and not in prison.
