The Bahrain government has announced an amnesty scheme for illegal expatriate workers so that they could leave the country without attracting any legal action or hefty fines.Announcing the amnesty at a press conference in Manama, the Assistant Undersecretary for General Directorate of Nationality, Passport and Residence Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa said the scheme is applicable only to those illegal workers who would like to leave the country voluntarily as part of Easy Exit project. He however pointed out that illegal workers would not be allowed to regularise their status and stay back in the country.
