World number 1, Carolina Marin of Spain, won 21-16, 21-19 defeating Saina Nehwal in the final of the World Badminton Championship in Jakarta today. However, Saina wins the silver medal.Saina yesterday became the first Indian to reach the final in the women's singles after she won playing Lindaweni Fanetria 21-17, 21-17. Marin entered the final as she won playing Sung Ji-hyun in three games 21-17, 15-21, 21-16 yesterday. PV Sindhu won the bronze twice in 2013 and 2014 and Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won the bronze in women's doubles in 2011. Prakash Padukone was the first Indian to win a bronze in 1983.
