Badaun rape case: Rising water level of Ganga delays exhumation of bodies for fresh autopsy

In Uttar Pradesh, the CBI officials are waiting for the water level in Ganga to recede so that they can exhume the bodies of the two alleged gang-rape victims for fresh autopsy. The water level has been rising because of incessant rain in upper Gangetic basin due to which the procedure to exhume the bodies had to be stopped yesterday.

The grave part which was cordoned off by sand bags remains submerged in several feet of flowing water so the investigating agency officials are finding it difficult to begin exhuming the bodies. Earlier, Irrigation department had warned the CBI that if the bodies were not exhumed soon, it would become difficult due to the rising water levels in Ganga in Uttarakhand.
