In Karnataka, Baby Afreen, the victim of abuse against girl child passed away at a hospital in Bangalore today. Hospital sources said that the baby passed away due to bleeding and convulsions.

Afreen's father battered her on April 7th as he was against having a girl child. Police sources said that murder charges will be pressed against Afreen's father Umar Farooq after recording the statement of Reshma, the victim's mother.

Omar is in judicial custody till April 21st. Our Correspondent adds that the incident has rung alarm bells in the civil society with women organizations demanding stringent action against the culprit, allegedly the father of the baby.
