Azadpur Mandi on a strike today

The whole sale Azadpur Mandi this morning went on a strike. They allege that Income Tax raids are being used against them as a tool as a pressure tactics to sell onions below cost prices. This has disrupted supply of onion to retail traders. Onion Merchant Association General Secretary Rajendra Sharma told AIR correspondent that the onion auction did not take place today. However, according to Brahm Yadav, the Chairman of Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board, talks are on with the Delhi government to resolve the issue. The National Capital received onion supplies from Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of India has said there is no meeting scheduled for today with the Prime Minister on the price rise issue.
