<span style="color: #222222;">Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani has said that the best test of a democracy is whether we as citizens and also as a nation can deliver justice to all our children. Addressing a national workshop on Child Rights organized by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in New Delhi today, Ms Irani said, the principle of justice for children applies to all of a nation's citizenry. She said, the true identity of a democracy is how it protects its children.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister said, it is necessary to develop the consciousness of the society on child rights. She said, her Ministry has taken several steps for the protection of child rights. The Minister said, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act was amended in the Parliament. She said, there is a presumption among many that abuse is limited to families that are poor.<br />'' <br />'' Ms Irani said, abuse is as much evident in families that prosper. She asked the participants of the workshop to look at challenges that emanate from poverty and also think of abuse which happen in prosperous families, powerful organizations and childcare institutions.<br />''<br />''Ms Irani said, the society is ever-changing, administrative needs are dynamic and hence it is incumbent upon us that we evolve with times and be ready with solutions for the challenges. She also stressed on educating children about the abuse.</span><br />
