Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: AIR runs special series India@75 to celebrate 75 years of Independence

India will complete 75 years of its Independence on 15th of this month. This year, Independence Day will take place amidst the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. In the run-up to the Independence Day celebration, All India Radio News is running a special series &nbsp;India@75. Today, the theme is – India the Pharmacy of the World. &nbsp;<br />”<br />”The global trust earned by the Indian healthcare sector has led to the nation being called the pharmacy of the world. India’s booming pharmaceuticals industry is not only a great source of innovation and employment generation, but it has also become a global healthcare provider in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, India has shown exemplary work on international cooperation by sending valuable medicines to many countries. India’s commitment and ability to produce high-quality, low-cost drugs on a massive scale helped the world fight the covid-19 pandemic. Indian pharma exports witnessed a growth of 103 percent since 2013-14, from 90 thousand 415 Crore rupees in 2013-14 to Rs. 1,83,422 Crores in 2021-22.&nbsp; The exports achieved in 2021-22 is the Pharma Sector's best export performance ever. India's pharma industry is the fifth largest contributor to exports having touched 25 billion dollars in March this year. Indian pharma companies enabled by their price competitiveness and good quality, have made a global mark, with 60 percent of the world’s vaccines and 20 percent of generic medicines coming from India. &nbsp;<br />”<br />”Addressing 1st Global Innovation Summit of Pharmaceutical sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the pandemic has brought the Pharmaceuticals sector into sharp focus.<br />”<br />”The Prime Minister said, India's definition of wellness is not limited by physical boundaries and it believes in the well-being of the entire humankind.&nbsp;<br />
