Congress Party General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh affairs in-charge Gulam Nabi Azad is holding a series of meetings with party leaders in Hyderabad. Mr Azad is on a two-day visit to Hyderabad for the first time after taking over state affairs and holding discussions with Ministers, elected members and party leaders on several issues including demands for statehood for Telangana. Party leaders including ministers belonged to Telangana and Coastal Andhra, have called on him separately and urged him to impress the party high command to take an early decision on statehood issue. His discussions with party leaders have assumed significance especially after party’s debacle in Kadapa by-poll. Party sources said measures to strengthen party in the state and reasons for poor performance in Kadapa by-poll have also figured during the discussions.
