Azad expresses concern over Indian doctors working abroad

Government today expressed concern over large number of Doctors of Indian origin working abroad. Addressing the Seventh India Health Summit in New delhi today, Health and Family Welfare Minsiter, Gulam Nabi Azad said that efforts should be made to retain such talent within the country. He also invited the private sector to make greater investments in the field of medical education. Emphasising on the need for better public private partnership in the health care sector Mr Azad said that providing affordable, accessible and quality health care is one of the biggest challenge the country faces today.He said that the private sector brings with it skilled human resource and greater efficiency.He however called upon the private sector to substantially cut down costs and build viable and pro-poor partnerships. The Minister added that the PPP model should be more transparent and patient centric and not profit driven. On the alleged 2G spectrum scam, he said the matter is subjudice and it will not be appropriate for him to speak anything on it. He said, he takes judicious decisions as per the law on every matter that comes to him.
