Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that it was unfortunate that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi chose to "remain mute" on the killing of civilians in Pakistani shelling on Independence Day. <br/><br/>Azad told reporters at Jammu that he felt sorry that while talking of foreign policies, the PM should have condemned Pakistan's act from the ramparts of Red Fort. <br/><br/>Asked whether security situation had worsened after Modi government came to power, the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha said, ever since BJP came to power at the Centre, there has been a huge escalation in incidents along the border. <br/><br/>On Independence Day on Saturday, five civilians, including a sarpanch, were killed and five others injured in heavy firing and mortar bomb shelling by Pakistani troops at several Indian posts and civilian areas.
