The Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has directed the new board of governors, which has taken over the functioning of the Medical Council of India (MCI), to ensure transparency in the process of granting recognition to medical colleges. He has written a letter to the governing body said official sources in Delhi. <br/>Mr. Azad while extending full support to the board reassured them full autonomy in their decision making .He however cautioned the members of the governing board against touts who were using the name of the board as well as the ministry, bringing bad name to them.<br/> Last week, Azad wrote to the heads of medical colleges all over the country warning them of stringent action on being found involved in corrupt practices and entertaining middlemen or touts. <br/>AIR correspondent reports that the board was reconstituted after MCI Chief Ketan Desai was arrested by the CBI in a corruption case. <br/>
